Thank you David! I have a CH 601 HDS project for sale. I had a guy interested to buy it. So he called the Zenith factory to verify my model was exempt and that the problem child was only the "XL" model.
He claims he spoke with someone at the factory who told him "ALL" 601s need the spar mod!!
I tried to get a hold of someone at Zenith but looks like they all left town! To Oshkosh...Lol
You probably got the janitor on the phone as all the players would be in Oshkosh
Hi George, I can confirm that David is correct, I recently bought a set of second hand HDS plans after speaking to the factory, HD and HDS are exempt from the XL mods. I'm sure Roger will be able to confirm when you are able to reach him. Nice project you have there! If you were closer to Iowa I might have picked it up! I've always liked the looks of the HDS, I think a rear sliding canopy tail dragger would look super cool! Good luck on the sale
Thank you so much for confirming David's good news!
I am learning a lot as i am new to kit planes and building world.
What do you think about the asking price of my project? I don't want to be asking too much while I certainly would not want to loose if it worth more. I appreciate your opinion! Thank you again.
Hi George, It can be difficult to estimate value based on pictures, but In my opinion your price is reasonable. Second hand aircraft projects are sometimes slow to sell, but the good news is that Zenith still supports the HD/HDS model so that should help tremendously in getting a decent price.
Of course, I'd advocate for you to finish the airplane and enjoy it for yourself! I spent seven years building mine, seemed I would never get it done, more than a few setbacks and doubts. Flying my own airplane, especially my first flight, has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I'd highly encourage everyone to experience it!
