Hi all,

I have a complete set of CH 601 HDS plans for sale which includes the HD and HDS wings as well as the fuselage. I currently have 1 copy of the HD plans and 2 copies of the HDS wings along with the associated construction plans. I have the original sales receipt that was included with the plans. I currently have 1 copy of the HD plans and 2 copies of the HDS wings along with the associated construction plans. I have the original sales receipt that was included with the plans. I am selling these plans because I realized that the 601 HDS did not fit my mission like I had previously thought. I plan to instead build a CH701 which better suits my mission of off airport flying. I originally paid $340 for the plans but I will be selling them for $300. If interested, please let me know and I can provide pictures of the plans that I have for sale.
After about a year of building 601 HDS, I decided to buy a completed one to get in the air faster. My "new' plane had flown a few hundred hours in Canada, was de-registered and trailered to the US (by the previous owner), where it has not yet been registered...let the paperwork begin!

Over the weekend, I was able to trailer the plane back home, and after a 7 hour drive, I only had one issue...a cracked skin on the elevator. I think something must have happened to the trim servo because the trim tab is able to deflect without any resistance. It seems as though the trim tab was probably flailing in the wind and the arm of the trim servo was smacking the top side of the elevator skin, causing the crack. The inspection cover to the trim servo is riveted on, or I would've inspected the servo already...but I digress. I've attached a photo of the damage, but the crack is about 2" long and propagates from near the trailing edge of the elevator.

I read through an EAA article about crack repair on skins and it seams like the accepted method to fix a crack like this is pretty straightforward:

-stop drill the crack

-clean up the area and rivet a piece of aluminum over the crack.

Here's the EAA article:

http://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/aviation-communities-and-interests/homebuilt-aircraft-and-homebuilt-aircraft-kits/resources-for-while-youre-building/building-articles/metal/repairing-sheet-metal

Does this seem like the best way to fix the problem?

Spam alert, the aforementioned 601 HDS project is about 70% done, and it's for sale!

Thanks for your help!

I'm selling my 601 HDS taildragger project that is about 70% complete. I purchased a flying aircraft and it's just not the right time in life to be building an airplane.

I am the third owner of the project, but all major work was done by an 8 time builder so the workmanship is excellent. I had the project looked over by an IA, who confirmed the level of workmanship. The wings and tail section are done, the fuselage is about 60% done. I have the tip-up canopy and about 95% of…

I had the project looked over by an IA, who confirmed the level of workmanship. The wings and tail section are done, the fuselage is about 60% done. I have the tip-up canopy and about 95% of all parts to finish the plane. I've got the most up to date plans from Zenith, and all build photos and notes from the original builder are included, as well as a bunch of homebuilt help DVD's and more.

I also have a Subaru EA81 (+/- 120 hrs) FWF package that includes all accy's (minus cowl), and a PowerFin 3 blade ground adjustable prop.

The project is located in Scranton, PA

I have the air frame on Barnstormers for $6,250 and the engine for $4,500. I'm open to offers!
